WEEK 8 - Roles of Institutions for Sustainable Development (SDG 16 & 17)

Understanding the Role of Institutions in Sustainable Development

In the last class, we learned about the importance of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). These goals focus on building strong institutions and partnerships to help achieve sustainable development. The lecturer shared how Malaysia is working to include sustainability in its government systems. We also discussed how different institutions, local groups, and individuals play important roles in achieving these goals. The main idea was that working together and collaborating is key to creating positive change.

This class helped me understand how important institutions are in promoting sustainability. It also made me think about my own role in helping with these efforts. The lecturer explained how Malaysia is already taking steps to be more sustainable, and this inspired me to realize that even small personal actions can make a difference when they work alongside the efforts of larger institutions. The session helped me see that every person can play a part in improving the world.

I can apply what I learned in my daily life and in school. I could help raise awareness about the SDGs in my community by encouraging teamwork to support sustainability. As someone who hopes to be a teacher in the future, I can use what I've learned to teach my students about sustainability and inspire them to contribute to global and local development.

One thing I want to learn more about is Malaysia's plan for sustainable development. The class gave a good introduction, but I need to study more about the specific programs and partnerships Malaysia is using to reach its goals. I also want to learn about the challenges institutions face when trying to achieve these goals and how they can overcome them.

Overall, the class was very informative and helped me understand how institutions and individuals work together for a better future. I am excited to continue learning and help support SDG 16 and 17, both locally and globally. This lesson was an important step in understanding how we can all contribute to sustainability.
